🚧 1,671 people lost their lives on UK roads in 2024 - Every one of them was someone's partner, parent, colleague or friend.
This Road Safety Week, it's worth asking:
Are we really driving as well as we think we are?
Most road users believe they’re safe. But the truth is, collisions rarely happen because of one major error. They come from small lapses: poor observation, misjudged speed, rushing under pressure or missing a developing hazard.
Some simple habits can make a huge difference:
🔹 Look further ahead and anticipate early
🔹 Adjust your speed to the environment, not just the limit
🔹 Stay focused – distractions delay reactions
🔹 Plan your route, especially in poor weather or low light
🔹 Give yourself time – being late is better than being unsafe
You don’t need to be an advanced driver to apply the core principles of safe driving.
Reading the road, planning ahead and giving others space is something we all benefit from – and something we all can do.
